Artist Statement
As a bicultural artist who lives in two aesthetically different dance disciplines (Hip-Hop and Contemporary Dance), we are known for turning potential train-wrecks into dynamic systems that engage both abstract and narrative encounters between the physical body and the emergent themes of marginalized peoples. Featuring performance creations of exhilarating athletic prowess to whimsical, immersive and absurd realities, our work is informed by a diverse experience and exchange in the breathtaking energy of hip-hop, the intricacies of House, postmodernism and the liberating rawness of contemporary concert dance. Our work is uniquely cross-cultural and powerfully engaging while consistently subverting expectations.

Reanimation
Reanimation is a story between two exceptional characters who are discovering each other for the first time within a surreal world. The duet goes on a journey of discovery as they realize how they’re connected, as one dancer reanimates the other. Will they figure out who they are, what they represent and what it means to be alive?

Honest the Expression
"This solo evolves with my personal journey in negotiating identity as a Southeast Asian American immigrant in the margins of US society. The solo is an expression of my experience as a street dancer while going to graduate school (2016-19) in a [still] white dance world and experiencing racism being constantly harassed by campus police because I look like an inner-city street kid and fit the 'common offender' profile. The music is mixed live by me." - JayWAN

Antidote
This is a remedy for the emptiness of existence. A love letter for my dearest Kathleen. Kathleen Hermesdorf was my mentor, friend, teacher, and wellspring of encouragement. Her way of being is how I approach my craft as well as how I try to be when I guide others. She was an abundant mover with a rockstar ferocity and a magnet for compassionate people. She helped me
embrace the bizarre and together we danced in our glorious sweat through our corpo-realities. Her artistry and generosity made art possible for so many artists and communities. Kathleen instilled in me an exhilarating freedom and a unique sense of belonging, continuously flowing into the infinite future, beautifully bizarre.
